Hello, welcome. Thank you so much for being here!
So, you’ve started your seeds, but your seedlings are getting a bit crowded. Now what do you do?
Here is a tutorial for the beginner gardener on how to up-pot your tomato plants.
Although this tutorial is specifically for tomato seedlings, these up-potting steps can be followed for many other seedlings as well.
How to Up-Pot Your Tomato Seedlings
Start by prepping your preferred potting mix for your new vessels.
Then thoroughly water the soil your seedlings are in.
Once your soil is soaked, it should be easy to remove the seedlings – soil and all – from their containers.
Once removed, gently tease apart your seedlings at the roots.
Take your new vessel, and while holding your plant semi-suspended within the container, backfill the vessel with new dirt – all the way up to the germination leaves.
The cool thing about tomatoes is that a new root can grow from each tiny fuzz on the tomato’s furry stem if they come in contact with soil!
Repeat these steps with the rest of your seedlings.
Here is a video breaking down these steps visually!
