Hello, welcome. Thank you so much for being here!
Today I’m sharing a DIY dried citrus garland tutorial that will bring the festive fall right into your home.
Common Questions
What fruits can I use?
Any citrus fruits! I used oranges and limes.
Where can I hang this garland?
Across a window, going up the staircase spindles, atop your table runner.
I love how mine looks draped across my DIY cafe curtains.
Do I really need to use all of these tools?
All you need to complete this basic tutorial is your fruit, a needle, twine, and scissors. All of the other extras are fun ways to take your garland to the next level, but not necessary for a lovely, decorative final product.
I love paper crafts and wax seals, and so does my oldest child, so adding some stamped paper to our garlands was a great way for her to help with the process when I wasn’t comfortable with her manning the needle and thread.
If you’re a visual learner, here’s a video tutorial to create this dried citrus garland.

DIY Citrus Garland for Festive Home Decor
1. Thinly slice your citrus fruits and dry them out, either in an oven or dehydrator. Do not exceed 200 F.
2. Measure the length of twine determined by where you’re hanging this garland + 5 inches.
3. Once your fruit is completely dry, you’re ready to string your garland. It helped me to arrange the garland on the table before stringing it.
3. Thread your needle with the twine and string your chosen fruits and extras along the twine. To achieve a layered look similar to the one I used, you’ll need to spear through two fruits at one time so that one edge of the fruit overlaps another. Otherwise just string your fruits one at a time.
4. Center and hang your garland.
